Location
Lat 16°54′26″N Long 96°08′0″E  Mingaladon (Mindan) is the northernmost part of Rangoon (Yangon) in the Yangon Region of Burma (Myanmar).

Prewar
During 1928 the British Army first established a military cantonment at Mingaladon for the British garrison in Rangoon. By 1937, the Burma Command, Rangoon Brigade Area including the headquarters, 1st Battalion, The King's Royal Rifle Corps and 1st Battalion, The Burma Rifiles were based at Mingaladon. During 1939, the newly formed 12th Battalion, The Burma Rifles was also based at Mingaladon.

Wartime History
On March 6, 1942 the defending 12th Battalion withdrew from Mingaladon bound for Tharawaddy. On March 7, 1942 as the British Army retreats from the Rangoon area the Japanese enters the city the same day and fully occupy the area two days later.

Occupied by the Japanese. Starting in early May 1942, targeted by Allied bombers and later fighters until the middle of October 1944. In early May 1945, the British Army 26 Division (Indian) liberates the Mingaladon area.
