Location Lat 30° 33′ 14″ N Long 114° 18′ 57″ E Wuchang 武昌 is located on the southeastern bank of the Yangtze River, opposite the mouth of the Han River in Hubei Province in China. Also spelled "Wǔchāng" or "Zhifang". On the northwest bank of the Yangtze River is Hanyang and Hankow (Hankou). Wartime History Occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War. Wuchang infrastructure included a rail road marshalling yard, cotton mills and warehouses. American missions against Wuchang September 2, 1942–July 21, 1945 Postwar During 1949 the three cities: Wuchang, Hankow (Hankou) and Hanyang merged to form Wuhan.
