Location
Lat 0° 2' 46" S Long 129° 37' 7" E Yu Island is a small island in the Molucca Island Group (Molucca Islands). Also spelled Yoi or Joe. In Indonesian known as Pulau Yoi. On the southern coast is Omnial (Umiyal) village and the southeast end is a shallow lagoon.
To the southwest is Gebe Island. To the west is the Halmahera Sea and beyond Halmahera Island. To the east is the Raja Ampat Islands and beyond western New Guinea. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today located in North Maluku Province of Indonesia.
