Location Lat 0° 55' 60S Long 131° 7' 0E Jefman Island is a small island to the north of the New Guinea near Sorong. Also spelled Efman or Yef Man. To the southwest is Salawati Island. Prewar, during the Pacific War known part of Dutch New Guinea. Today located in Sorong Regency in the West Papua Province of Indonesia. Wartime History During 1942 occupied by the Japanese as they occupied Dutch New Guinea. Targeted by American aircraft between April until December 1944. Occupied by the Japanese until the official surrender of Japan.
