    Salawati Island (Pulau Salawati) West Papua Indonesia
Location
Salawati Island is located in the Raja Ampat Group (Raja Ampat Islands) off the Vogelkop Peninsula (Bird's Head Peninsula) of New Guinea. In Indonesian known as Pulau Salawati. To the northeast is Jefman Island. To the southwest is the Sele Strait (Galowa Strait, Revenges Strait) and beyond the Vogelkop Peninsula (Bird's Head Peninsula). To the north is the Pitt Strait (Sagewin Strait) and beyond Batanta Island. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Between 1963-2002 part of Irian Jaya. Today located in the Raja Ampat Regency in West Papua Province (West Irian Jaya) of Indonesia.

Samate (Semate, Kampoeng Samate)
Located at the northeastern of Salawati Island.
