| Location The Raja Ampat Regency includes the Raja Ampat Islands Group (Raja Ampat Islands) off the Vogelkop Peninsula (Bird's Head Peninsula) of western New Guinea. Prewar and during World War II part of the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Between 1963-2002 part of Irian Jaya. Today located in the Raja Ampat Regency in West Papua Province (West Irian Jaya) of Indonesia. Raja Ampat Islands (Raja Ampat Group) located off New Guinea bordering the the Sele Strait. Waigeo Island (Pulau Waigeo) located to the northwest of the Vogelkop Peninsula. Gam Island located to the south of Waigeo Island. Dampier Strait (Augusta's Strait) located between Waigeo and Batanta in the Raja Ampat Islands. Wai Island located between Batanta Island and Gam Island. Batanta Island (Pulau Batanta) located to the north of Salawati Island. Salawati Island located to the west of New Guinea. Samate (Semate, Kampoeng Samate) located on the eastern edge of Salawati Island. Pitt Strait (Sagewin Strait) located between Salawati Island and Batanta Island. Sele Strait (Galowa Strait, Revenges Strait) located between Salawati Island and western New Guinea. Kaboe Island (Pulau Yefkabu) small island in Raja Ampat Islands to the west of Waigeo and Gam.
