Location Hagushi Bay borders the western coast of Okinawa in Okinawa Prefecture in southern Japan. Also known as the Hagushi Anchorage. Borders Yomitan (Yontan) and the mouth of the Bishi River (Hija River). The shore is known as Hagushi Bay. Wartime History On April 1, 1945 L-Day at 8:30am American forces including U.S. Marines from the III Amphibious Corps and U.S. Army XXIV Corps land at Hagushi Bay. The 6th Marine Division landed at Green Beach (Green One, Green Two) and Red Beach (Red One, Red Two and Red Three) off Yontan. Ashore, the American met little resistance as Japanese forces prepare to defend further to the south. Afterwards, used as an American anchorage for warships and vessels supporting the Okinawa campaign. Contribute
