Location
Kii Strait 紀伊水道 is seporates Shikoku and the Kii Peninsula on southern Honshū in Japan. In Japanese known as Kii-suidō. Also known as Kii Channel. Connects to the Seto Inland Sea (Inland Sea) and beyond the Pacific Ocean.
Wartime History
On January 18, 1942 off the mouth of the Kii Strait, USS Plunger (SS-179) torpedoes and sinks Eizan Maru (ex-Panamanian Aurora) at roughly Lat 33°30'N Long 135°00'E.
