Lat 37° 27' 13N Long 126° 43' 54E  Incheon is located on the western coast of the Korean Peninsula in the Seoul National Capital Area in the Republic of Korea (South Korea).To the northeast is Seoul. Also spelled "Inchon". Also known as Chemulpo Harbor or Jinsen Harbor or Jemulpo Harbor.

Wartime History
On September 8, 1945, U.S. Army Lt. Gen. John R. Hodge arrived at Incheon to accept the surrender of Japanese forces south of the 38th Parallel. Appointed as military governor, General Hodge directly controlled South Korea as head of the United States Army Military Government in Korea (USAMGIK) during 1945-1948.
