| Location Agrihan Island is a small island in the Mariana Islands. To the northwest is Asuncion Island and to the south is Pagan Island. Today located in the Northern Islands Municipality in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) in the United States of America (USA). History Claimed by the Spanish. In 1899, sold to Germany and administered from German New Guinea. The Germans established coconut plantations harvesting copra. During World War I turned over to Japan who administered the island until the end of the Pacific War. Postwar Part of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands administered by the United States.
