The base map is made from aerial photographs over the Slacsac Passes including Salacsac Pass No. 2 to the west and Salacsac Pass No. 1 to the east on the Villa Verde Trail in the foothills of the Caraballo Mountains in central Luzon in the Philippines. The blue arrows indicate the axis of U.S. advance with date indicated. The blue line with hatches indicates the 1/127 (1st Battalion, 127th Infantry Regiment) position March 7. The blue line with rectangles indicates the 32d Infantry Division front on April 17, 1945. The solid blue line with hatches indicates the 32d Infantry Division front on May 4, 1945. The red arrows indicate Japanese counterattacks with date indicated. The red arrow with dotted lines indicates the Japanese withdrawal of remnants of the 2nd Tank Division northward along the Imugan River May 24, 1945.
