Location Lat 16° 31' 51N Long 120° 19' 59E Bauang (Bouang) is located at an elevation of 150' / 45m in La Union Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Borders Lingayen Gulf to the east. Connected by road eastward to Naguilian and northward via Route 3 road to San Fernando. Wartime History On December 22, 1941 at 7:30am 20 landing craft and 29 sampans landed the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) 9th Infantry Regiment "Kamijima Detachment" landed at Bauang (Bouang) as the northernmost landing point of the Japanese beachhead. After landing, the soldiers moved inland to consolidate the beachhead and sent an element northward to capture San Fernando and another eastward to capture Naguilian then onward to capture Baguio two days after the initial landing.
