| Location Lat 18° 30' 21N Long 120° 35' 2E Bubon (Bobon) is located at an elevation of 108 / 32m on Cape Bojeador in Ilocos Norte Province in the Ilocos Region (Region I) of northwest of Luzon in the Philippines. Also spelled Bobon. In the Ilocano language, Bubon (Bobon) means a well where you draw water. Wartime History On July 3, 1942 roughly seventy Japanese survivors of Montevideo Maru sunk two day earlier made landfall at Bubon. Ashore, they meet a Filipino who agreed to guide them to Laoag. On July 4, 1942 the Japanese were ambushed by Filipino guerrillas with 55 killed with the remainder fleeing. Later, the remainder were hunted down and killed by the guerrillas. The sole survivor , Yosiaki Yamaji managed to reach Laoag and link up with Japanese forces. Contribute
