Location
Ilocos Norte Province is located in the Ilocos Region (Region I) on the northwest of Luzon in the Philippines. The provincial capital is Laoag. Borders Ilocos Sur Province to the south and both Cagayan Province and Apayao Province to the east. Borders the South China Sea to the west.

Wartime History
In early December 1941, occupied by the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA). During the Japanese occupation, the Ilocos Region was encouraged to grow cotton for export to Japan. Filipino guerrilla forces actively opposed them. Many civilians were killed by the Japanese in reprisals attacks and burned several towns. Likewise, the guerrillas assassinated pro-Japanese elements in society. By January 1945 when U.S. forces landed on Luzon, Illocos Norte guerrillas had control of most towns. By late February 1945, Ilocos Norte was the first province in northern Luzon fully liberated by Filipino guerrilla forces.

Laoag
Provincial capital of Ilocos Norte Province, Laoag Airfield and port of Gaang.

Batac
During December 1941 occupied by the Japanese Army until the middle of February 1945.

Paoay 
Includes Church of San Agustin (Church of Paoay).

Dingras
One of the centers of guerrillas activities in Ilocos Norte. Japanese left the town as early as December 1944. Home of Josefa Llanes Escoda, pioneer of Philippine Girl Scout movement, who was executed by the Japanese in Manila.

Bangui
During the Japanese occupation, burned by the Japanese in retaliation for guerrilla activities.

Badoc
During the Japanese occupation, burned by the Japanese in retaliation for guerrilla activities.

Bangui
During the Japanese occupation, burned by the Japanese in retaliation for guerrilla activities.

Piddig
During the Japanese occupation, burned by the Japanese in retaliation for guerrilla activities.

Cape Bojeador
Located on the northwest coast of Luzon bordering the South China Sea.

Bubon (Bobon)
Located at on Cape Bojeador in Ilocos Norte Province on Luzon in the Philippines.

Pagudpud
Located on Cape Bojeador in Ilocos Norte Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Borders Caunayan Bay.
