Location Lat 18° 33' 42N Long 120° 47' 12E Pagudpud is located at an elevation of 124' / 37m on Cape Bojeador in Ilocos Norte Province in the Ilocos Region (Region I) of northwest of Luzon in the Philippines. Also spelled Pagupud. Borders Caunayan Bay. Wartime History On August 27, 1944 after dark, USS Stingray SS-186 in Caunayan Bay and landed a force of fifteen Filipino guerrillas led by 2nd Lt. Jose Valera trained in Brisbane plus six tons of cargo including weapons and supplies at Pagudpud. During the Pacific War, a Japanese ship was reportedly sunk at this location by air attack. Stingray Memorial (Philippine Liberation Memorial) A stone pillar memorial with a plaque that reads "Stingray Memorial" and "Philippine Liberation Memorial" is located at the beach at Pagudpud is dedicated to the landing of Filipino guerrillas at this location.
