Digos (Degos, Daliao, Degosu) Davao de Sur Province | Mindanao Philippines
Location
Lat 6° 44' 59N Long 125° 21' 26E  Located forty miles south of Davao (Davao City) on the western shore of Davao Gulf on the southern coast of Mindanao in the Philippines. Known as "Daliao" to the Americans and "Dego" to the Japanese. Until 1967 located in Davao Province until subdivided into three provinces and since located in Davao de Sur Province.

Wartime History
Occupied by the Japanese. On April 27, 1945 the US Army 24th Division (minus the 21st Infantry in reserve) under the command of General Woodruff advanced along Route 1 from the inland side to attack Digos. The defending Japanese were only prepared for an amphibious assault against the town, not an attack from the interior. The fighting for the town was brief but intense. Afterwards, they continued to advance towards Davao.
