Location Lat 11° 12' 60N Long 124° 34' 13E Kananga is located at an elevation of 108' / 32m inland from the north coast of Leyte Island in Leyte Province in the Eastern Visayas (Region VIII) in the Visayas (Visayas Islands) in the central Philippines. Also spelled Tonoy. The Ormoc-Limon Road (Highway 2) spans Kananga connecting northward to Lonoy (Tonoy). Wartime History On December 21, 1944 contact is established between elements of X Corps and XXIV Corps completing the occupation of the Ormoc Valley.
