Wartime History
During the night of January 22, 1942 the Japanese Army, 20th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion under Colonel Tsunehiro embarked aboard barges and departs Moron southward along the west coast of the Bataan Peninsula bound for Caibobo Point to conduct an amphibious landing to bypass the U.S. / Filipino II Corps' Rear Battle Position spanning from Bagac to Orion. During the voyage, encountered PT-34 and during a 15 minute engagement, the PT Boat sank two barges. On January 23, 1942 in the early morning, due to the darkness, poor maps and tides the Japanese landing force became lost and split into two groups. The first group with a third of the battalion accidentally landed at Longoskawayan Point. The second group landed at Quinauan Point. Both landings achieved complete tactical surprise but were far from their intended objective.

On January 27, 1942 after preparatory fire from all available guns, U.S. Army 57th Infantry (Philippine Scouts), 2nd Battalion including elements of U.S. Marines Corps (USMC), 4th Marine Regiment attempt to dislodge the Japanese on Longoskawayan Point but are unable to clear it. On January 28, 1942 Japanese resistance ends on Longoskawayan Point.
