| Location Misamis Oriental Province is located in the Northern Mindanao Region (Region X) on the north central coast of Mindanao Island in the Philippines. Includes Cagayan de Oro City at the center and Illigan City to the southwest. Borders Bukidnon Province to the south. Macajalar Bay On May 10, 1945 the U.S. Army 40th Infantry Division landed a regiment at Macajalar Bay at the north of the island at the Sayre Highway unopposed and joined Filipino guerrilla forces and advanced southward.
