Location
Lat 13° 57′ 48″ N Long 121° 14′ 23″ E  Mount Malepunyo (Mt. Malepunyo) has an elevation of 3,287' / 1,077m in the Malepunyo Range in Batangas Province in the Calabarzon (Region IV-A) located in southwestern of Luzon in the Philippines. To the east is Talisay and beyond Lipa. To the northeast is San Pablo in Laguna Province. To the east is Villa Escudero in Quezon Province.

Wartime History
On April 2, 1945 the U.S. Army 7th Cav is pushing toward Mt Malepunyo. On April 4, 1945 the 5th Cav of 1st Cav Div, probing south with patrols from San Pablo, makes contact with 11th A/B Div forces in the Tiaong area and completes the isolation of Japanese forces on Mt Malepunyo.

On April 5, 1945 the 7th Cav advancing from the north reaches the Mapait Hills and pushes towards Mt Malepunyo. 187th Inf, 11th A/B Div, takes Talisay and probes in west foothills of Mt Malepunyo while 188th mops up south and southeast of Mt Malepunyo. On April 6, 1945 elements of 1st Cav and 11th A/B Divs are fighting in the foothills at the north and west approaches of the Mt Malepunyo hill mass.

On April 7, 1945 elements of the 11th A/B continue pressure toward Mt Malepunyo. On April 8, 1945 elements maintain pressure on Mt Malepunyo. On April 9, 1945 elements maintain pressure on Mt Malepunyo. On April 11, 1945 elements maintain pressure on Mt Malepunyo. On April 12, 1945 the 11th A/B Div takes responsibility for Mt Malepunyo sector. On April 13, 1945 the 11th A/B Div prepares for final assault against Mt Malepunyo. On April 15, 1945 the 511th Inf, 11th A/B Div begins a drive eastward towards Mt Malepunyo. On April 16, 1945 the 511th Infantry Regiment captures Mt Malepunyo. On April 22, 1945 the 11th A/B Div is reinf by 8th Cav and 2d Sq of 7th Div and regroups to continue the offensive. On April 29, 1945 the 11th A/B Div captures Hill 2610 in the Mt Malepunyo hill mass. On April 30, 1945 American forces overrcome Japanese resistance in the Mt. Malepunyo area, but pockets remain to be mopped up.
