Location Lat 5° 4' 21N Long 119° 47' 7E Sanga Sanga is located on Sanga-Sanga Island in at the southwestern in Tawi-Tawi Province in Autonomous Region In Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) of the Philippines. Also spelled Sanga-Sanga. During World War II, this island was considered part of Borneo. Wartime History Occupied by the Japanese, this location was used as major stop over base for the Japanese Navy during their occupation. Starting in December 1944 until the end of March 1945 attacked by American bombers and fighters. American missions against Sanga-Sanga December 9, 1944–March 30, 1945 On April 2, 1945, liberated by the U.S. Army 41st Infantry Division. Later, relieved by the Australian Army, 2/25 Infantry Battalion that occupied the area until the end of the Pacific War.
