| Location Lat 14° 17' 8N Long 120° 43' 8E Ternate is located at an elevation of 26' / 7m above sea level near the southern coast of Manila Bay to the southwest of Cavite in Cavite Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Wartime History During March 1942 in the Ternate area, the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) emplaced ten 240mm Howitzers from the Hayakawa Detachment under the command of Col. Masayoshi Hayakawa. Ternate was used as a staging area for the Japanese landing on Corregidor on May 5, 1942. Starting in the middle of February 1945 targeted by American warships and airvraft. In early March 1945 liberated by elements of the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division.
