Location
Lat 14° 17' 8N Long 120° 43' 8E  Ternate is located at an elevation of 26' / 7m above sea level near the southern coast of Manila Bay to the southwest of Cavite in Cavite Province on Luzon in the Philippines.

Wartime History
During March 1942 in the Ternate area, the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) emplaced ten 240mm Howitzers from the Hayakawa Detachment under the command of Col. Masayoshi Hayakawa. Ternate was used as a staging area for the Japanese landing on Corregidor on May 5, 1942.

Starting in the middle of February 1945 targeted by American warships and airvraft. In early March 1945 liberated by elements of the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division.

February 17, 1945
(USN) Light cruiser Cleveland (CL-55) and destroyers O'Bannon (DD- 450) and Taylor (DD-468) bombard the Ternate area.

February 19, 1945
(U.S. Army) Probing of the Ternate area is begun.

February 26, 1945
(FEAF) A-20s and fighter-bombers support ground forces near Ternate.

February 28, 1945
(U.S. Army) 188th Inf (-2d Bn), reinf, of 11th Airborne Division gets into position for assault on Ternate region

March 3, 1945
(U.S. Army) Elements of 11th Airborne Division conclude operations to clear Manila Bay with reduction of resistance in Ternate area

March 9, 1945
(FEAF) B-25s and fighter-bombers hit Japanese-occupied areas at Ternate.

March 26, 1945

(FEAF) A-20s and fighter-bombers support U.S. ground forces, hitting Ternate.
