Location Lat 5° 34' 35" S Long 146° 20' 18" E Biliau village is located at Cape Iris on the north coast of New Guinea. Also spelled Beliau. Pronounced "Bill-awe". To the east is Yamai and beyond roughly twelve miles away is Saidor. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Madang District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Prewar Biliau mission was established by the Germans plus Biliau plantation as a coconut plantatin harvesting copra. Wartime History On February 24, 1944 U.S. Army, 126th Infantry Regiment, 3d Battalion reached Biliau and Cape Iris.
