Location Lat 5° 34' 35" S Long 146° 20' 18" E Biliau village is located at Cape Iris on the north coast of New Guinea. Also spelled Beliau. Pronounced "Bill-awe". To the east is Yamai and beyond Saidor. Prewar, Biliau mission and Biliau plantation planted with coconut palm trees harvesting copra was established at this location. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Madang District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History On February 24, 1944 U.S. Army patrols of the 126th IR, 3d Battalion reach Biliau at Cape Iris, about twelve land miles from Saidor.
