Location
Lat 7° 17' 12S Long 146° 49' 5E  Black Cat is located on a ridge top at an elevation of 5,869' / 1,788m near Black Cat Pass in New Guinea. The gap at this location is known as Black Cat Pass. Also known as simply "Black Cat" or spelled "Blackcat" (one word). Prewar, connected by the Black Cat Track to Guabagusal (Guadagasal, Guadagasel) with connecting trails to either Wau to the southwest or Sanananda to the northeast. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Morobe District of the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in in Morobe Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Prewar
During the 1930s, a gold mine was established at Black Cat accessible via a Black Cat Track.
