Location Lat 9° 25' 60S Long 147° 28' 0E Catalina is located at an elevation 1,899' / 578m in New Guinea. Located to the east of Sogeri and northeast of Port Moresby. Today located in Central Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Prewar This area was part of a rubber plantation planted with rubber trees harvesting rubber. Wartime History On October 26, 1943 during bad weather PBY-5 Catalina 2447 crashed near the road impacting large trees and vegetation. Afterwards, the area was renamed "Catalina". Also known as "Catalina Plantation". Postwar Catalina was owned by Angco and used to graze cattle for beef. During this period, also known as "Catalina Estate".
