Location Lat 8° 48' 0S Long 148° 20' 60E Horanda village is an inland village in New Guinea. Located to the north of the Samboga River and northeast of Embi Lakes. To the northeast is Dobodura and southeast is Ulada and east is Borio (Boru). Today located in Oro Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History Late in 1942, the U.S. Army built a built a road to connect Horanda to Ulada and Dobodura to support the battles at Buna, Sanananda and Gona. Afterwards, the area was developed into a major airfield complex that eventually included seven separate airfields in the Horanda area.
