Location June Valley is located in the Port Moresby area of southern New Guinea. Also known as Goon Gully. To the southwest is Burns Peak. To the northeast is another hill and beyond 5 Mile Drome (Wards). Prewar and during the Pacific War part of Central District in the Territory of Papua. Today located in National Capital District (NCD) in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History Starting in 1942, June Valley was used as a camp area for Allied personnel based at 5 Mile Drome (Wards). During late 1942, RAAF No. 30 Squadron and No. 22 Squadron personnel camped here. In late 1942, members of RAAF No. 30 Squadron held a Masonic Lodge meeting in June Valley, the first conducted in Port Moresby during the Pacific War. By 1943, a fuel pipeline from Hanabada spanned the northern end of June Valley to the airfield.
