Location
Southern Highlands Province (SHP) is located in the highlands of Papua New Guinea (PNG). Borders Enga Province to the north, Western Highlands Province to the northeast, Chimbu Province (Simbu) to the east, Gulf Province to the south and Western Province (Fly) to the west. On May 17, 2012 three districts from Southern Highlands Province became Hela Province.

Mendi
Lat 6° 8' 38S Long 143° 39' 38E  Mendi is located in the center of the Province.
