Location Musashi Bay borders the southern coast of Paramushir Island in the Kurile Islands spanning from Kapari-saki at Kapari to the west and Cape Kurabu (Kurabu-saki) to the east. In Japanese Musashi Wan. Prewar and during World War II part of Japan. Postwar, part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Today, located in Sakhalin Oblast in Russia. Wartime History Prewar and during the Pacific War used as an anchorage by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) for Musashi Naval Base on Cape Kurabu (Kurabu Cape). Between February 1944 until July 1945 attacked by American bombers. Also, subjected to several U.S. Navy (USN) shore bombardments.
