Location Choiseul Bay is located at the northwestern tip of Choiseul Island in Choiseul Province in the Solomon Islands. Emerald Entrance provides a passage for vessels. At the center is Guppy Island. The western edge is formed by Redman Island, Taro Island, Sipasai Island, Parama Island and Kondakanimboko Island. Prewar Coconut palm plantations harvesting copra were established on both Redman Island and Guppy Island with a small trading station with a wharf to the east on the mainland of Choiseul Island. Wartime History During early 1942, occupied by the Japanese. The area between northwest Choiseul Island and the offshore islands was used as a seaplane operating area. It is unknown if any base facilities were established in this area, or only used as a landing area. Between 1942 until early 1944 used by the Japanese as an operating area for barges. Occupied by the Japanese until the end of the Pacific War and official surrender of Japan on September 2, 1945. Redman Island Forms the southwestern edge of Choiseul Bay. Taro Island Located off Choiseul Bay Choiseul Bay Airport built postwar spans the length of the island. Sipasai Island Forms the western edge of Choiseul Bay. Guppy Island Located at the center of Choiseul Bay. Coastwatcher Station Ana Coastwatchers operated a station on Choiseul Island inland from Choiseul Bay known as "Ana" on Mount Grili at an elevation of 1,500' overlooking the Choiseul Bay area. Coastwatcher Station Don Coastwatchers operated a station on Choiseul Island inland from Choiseul Bay known as "Don" on the north coast of Choiseul Island near Wanago.
