Location Hill 84 is a feature inland from Point Cruz near the north coast of Guadalcanal. This feature was designated "Hill 84" by the Americans during the Guadalcanal campaign. Today located in Guadalcanal Province in Solomon Islands. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in Guadalcanal Province in the Solomon Islands. Wartime History On September 27, 1942 U.S. Marines from the 7th Marines, 1st Battalion, Company A, Company B and Company D advanced to this location but were trapped by the Japanese and withdrew under artillery and Naval gunfire support from USS Monssen (DD-436). Today The King Solomon Hotel is located atop this feature.
