Location
Kavakava Bay is located on the western edge of Fauro Island in the Fauro Island Group (Fauro Islands) in the northern Solomon Islands. Inside Kavakava Bay is Mabuu Island and Baobi Island. Further to the west is Asie Island. Most of the bordering shoreline is fringed by coral reef. Bohea Point is located at the southern end of the bay. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in of Western Province in the Solomon Islands.

Japanese Freighter
This vessel was sunk by Allied aircraft. The shipwreck is reportedly at a depth of 50m and often leaks traces of oil. According to local people, after it sank food washed ashore.

Gareth Coleman adds:
"A big transport is sunk in Kavakava Bay. I have since confirmed this ship and have spoken to the only person who has dived it. Its chocka full of equipment and has eight cargo holds."
