Location
Kokorana Island borders Rendova Harbor and the northern Rendova Island. To the north is Blanche Channel and beyond New Georgia. To the west is Bau Island (Bou). To the east is Mbarambuni Island.
Wartime History
On June 30, 1943 in the early morning, the U.S. "Western Invasion Force" entered Rendova Harbor and began landing U.S. personnel and cargo on northern Rendova Island while Marines secure Kokorana Island and clear an area for a 90mm anti-aircraft gun battery.
