| Location Lat 8° 20' 56S Long 160° 33' 44E Afufu village is located at the northern tip of Malaita Island. Wartime History During the Guadalcanal campaign, the Japanese established a small coastwatcher station near Afufu village. Detected by the Americans, attacked on November 5, 1942 when 2nd Marines assaulted the outpost and killed twenty including the crew of a D3A1 Val ditched August 24, 1942 off Malu'u.
