Location
Vonavona Island is a large flat island at the western edge of the New Georgia Island Group (New Georgia Islands) in the central Solomon Islands. Also known as Parara Island or Wanawana Island. Borders Ferguson Passage to the west, Arundel Island to the east and Kolombangara Island to the north. To the southeast are many small islands including including Lola Island and Mbanga Island (Baanga, Baga) and beyond western New Georgia. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in Western
Province in the Solomon Islands.
