Borders San Pedro Bay to the west and beyond the Pacific Ocean. To the east is Long Beach. Wartime History Between 1919 until 1940, San Pedro was the home of the U.S. Navy Battle Fleet. During World War II, San Pedro was an important port and based many industries and companies including Bethlehem Steel Company. USS Iowa Museum Located at the Port of Los Angeles displays USS Iowa (BB-61). Lane Victory Maritime Museum Displays Liberty Ship SS Lane Victory. Fort MacArthur Museum Located in San Pedro, today the Port of Los Angeles. Named for U.S. Army Lieutenant General Arthur MacArthur, father of Douglas MacArthur.
