Carroll R. Anderson
475th Fighter Group (475th FG) P-38 Lightning pilot and author
Background
Carroll R. Anderson enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as an aviation cadet. After flight training, he earned his wings and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant then sent overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA).

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 475th Fighter Group (475th FG) "Satan's Angels", 433rd Fighter Squadron (433rd FS) "Possum". During 1944, assigned P-38J "Virginia Marie" 43-28538 that he nicknamed and flew on combat missions from Hollandia Airfield then in the middle of July 1944 from Mokmer Drome on Biak. During World War II, Anderson made no claims for aerial victories.

Postwar
Anderson was active with the 475th Fighter Group Association and reunions. He researched and wrote many articles about his wartime experiences in aviation magazines.
