McGuire's Last Mission

World War II veteran Carroll R. Anderson was a fellow pilot in the 475th Fighter Group (475th FG) "Satan's Angels" and frequently flew with Major Thomas B. McGuire on combat missions over New Guinea.  In the early 1970’s, on his own imitative, Carroll Anderson launched the first and only investigation into McGuire’s fatal mission on January 7, 1945 piloting P-38L Lighting 44-24845. At the end of his investigation he wrote a superb article describing what happened and titled it “McGuire’s Last Mission”.  This article was eventually published in the January 1975 issue of Air Force Magazine.
