His leather jacket has a large patch the 449th Fighter Squadron (449th FS) unofficial emblem the Walt Disney character, Peg Leg Pete wearing a football uniform and holding a Tommy gun. On October 30, 1943 bailed out of P-38G Lightning 42-13415 south of Kiukiang in China and was rescued by Chinese Communist forces and later returned to duty.
