    Bohol Island Bohol Province Philippines
Bohol Island is located in Bohol Province in the Central Visayas (Region VII) in the Philippines. Located between Leyte to the east, and Negros to the west. Borders the Mindanao Sea (Bohol Sea) to the south.

During the prewar period, Cebu and Bohol were part of the Philippine Army 8th Military District.

Wartime History
During 1942, Japanese forces occupied Bohol Island. On April 11, 1945 a small force of the U. S. Army Americal Division liberated Bohol and secured the island in less than two weeks against limited Japanese resistance.
