The Flying Circus Pacific War 1943 As Seen Through a Bombsight This book is written by former Texan Congressmen for three and a half decades who was the Speaker of the House for two years (1987-89). The Flying Circus covers his wartime career in the 380th Bombardment Group (380th BG) nicknamed "The Flying Circus" as a bombardier and survivor of thirty combat missions. Written honestly and candidly, this book is both a personal memoir and an excellent oral history about the early air war in the B-24 Liberator. Beginning with life prior to Pearl Harbor, training and deployment overseas, Wright went overseas to Australia's Northern Territory to Fenton Airfield near Darwin and began flying missions over present day Indonesia. Later in his missions, the 380th was detached to Dobodura to participate in the bombings against New Britain and Cape Gloucester.
