Ship History Built by Vosper in Annapolis Yacht Yard, Annapolis, Maryland. Laid down August 10, 1945 as 70' Vosper Motor Torpedo Boat:. Launched September 25, 1945. This Motor Torpedo Boat was intended for delivery as part of lend-lease to the Soviet Union (USSR) but was never delivered due to the end of World War II. Completed October 20, 1945. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as PT-728. On November 28, 1945 stricken from the Navy. On August 18, 1947 transferred to the War Shipping Administration and sold as war surplus. Postwar This boat had several owners over the decades and operated on the east coast of the United States. During 1953 purchased by Adolph C. Jordan of Medford, MA and used as a fishing boat named "The Infant". In 1956 purchased by Scotty Warren Boats of Hollywood, Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, FL and use as a passenger vessel named "Scotty Warren IV". In 1963 purchased by Marolyn Fishing Boats, Inc. of Wildwood Crest, NJ and renamed "PT 109". In 1972 purchased by Capt. Frank Smiths Enterprises, Inc. of Miami Beach, FL and named "Sea Runner". In 1977 renamed "Blue Seas". On November 21, 1977 purchased by David K. Tuttle of Mayport, FL and renamed "Capt. Dave". In 1978 purchased by Conch Republic Flamingo Fleet, Inc. of Key West, FL and renamed "PT 728". Owned by Mr. Bomfouk who took out a bank loan that later defaulted and the PT-728 and repossessed by the bank and offered for sale. During the 2000s, purchased by Robert Iannucci / Fleet Obsolete and motored from Key West, FL up the east coast then up the Hudson River to Kingston, NY. This boat operated in the Hudson River and was available for charters, public events and films operating in the Hudson River, New York and Massachusetts. In the spring of 2012 PT-728 was sold to Liberty Aviation Museum. During the middle of June 2012, PT-728 was ferried by a five man crew up the Hudson River and via the Erie Canal and Mohawk River into Lake Erie to Port Clinton, OH. At the Liberty Aviation Museum, this boat is undergoing restoration back to the original Vosper PT Boat configuration of 1945. Nickame "Thomcat" with "Port Clinton OH" on the stern.
