USS Minneapolis (CA-36) damaged bow with coconut log breakwater in Tulagi Harbor
The cruiser was hit by two torpedoes during the Battle of Tassafaronga. Afterward, the damaged bow was cut off, and repairs were made by the crew and Seabees. The handwritten caption at the upper right reads: "Minneapolis log breakwater on leaving Ringbolt [Tulagi] 12 Dec 1942".
