Kazuo Sakamaki Prisoner Of War (POW) No. 1 commander HA-19 Type A midget submarine (Midget C) beached at Waimanalo on Oahu
The sign reads "Kazuo Sakamaki ISN HJ 1 MI" Sakamaki was designated POW no. 1. Ashamed for being taken prisoner, he requested to commit suicide, which was denied. In protest he burned his cheeks with a cigarette before being photographed.
