Tank History Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as a Type 95 Ha Go Light Tank manufacture number unknown. Transported as cargo aboard a ship to Rabaul. Likely assigned to the 8th Tank Regiment. Wartime History This tank was one of forty Japanese tanks that survived the Pacific War in the Rabaul area. On September 19, 1945 surrendered at Rapopo Airfield to the Australian Army 2/4 Armoured Regiment. On September 28, 1945 the surrendered tanks were driven from Rapopo to Rabaul by Japanese drivers with Australian commanders. Afterwards, this tank was abandoned in the Rabaul area. Display This tank is displayed at the center of the roundabout on the Kokopo-Rabaul Road in Kokopo at the turn for the Kokopo Museum. Later, it was moved to the side of the roundabout, where it remains to this day. The tank is missing the turret. Contribute
