Tank History
Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as Type 97 Chi-Ha Medium Tank.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 9th Tank Regiment and shipped to Manchuria. During April 1944 shipped to Saipan. During June 1944, disabled during the Battle of Saipan and abandoned.

Wreckage
Until the 1970s this tank was remained on Saipan. Recovered by a Japanese veterans group and transported to Japan.

Display
On April 12, 1975 donated to Yasukuni Jinja (Yasukuni Shrine) as a monument to the Battle of Saipan and tankers of the 9th Tank Regiment that fought to the last man. Today, displaed at Yūshūkan (Yasukuni Museum) in the Great Exhibition Hall.
