Background
During 1939, established as the 29th Hiko Sentai (29th Flying Regiment) in the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) operated the Babs, Ida with Sentai Hombu (Headquarters), 1st Chutai and 2nd Chutai. During 1944 operated the Ki-44 Tojo and Ki-84 Frank with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Chutai.

Wartime History
During 1944, operated the Ki-44 Tojo from Clark Field. Later, operated from Murphy Field flying the Ki-44 Tojo and Ki-84 Frank and nearby Zablan Auxiliary Airfield.
