Background
Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) No. 2 Squadron operated the PV-1 Ventura in the South Pacific (SoPAC) during World War II.

Wartime History
On March 11, 1944 damaged is PV-1 Ventura NZ4540 pilot Flight Lieutenant M. H. McFarlane during take off from Munda Airfield on New Georgia and written off.

During late late June 1945 moves to Jacquinot Bay Airfield on the southern coast of New Britain.

On July 14, 1945 during take off PV-1 Ventura NZ4632 and ground looped at Jacquinot Bay Airfield and was severely damaged.

O September 22, 1945 during take off PV-1 Ventura NZ4618 pilot FtLt Frederick N. R. Thomason a test flight, suffered burst tire during take off from Jacquinot Bay Airfield that caused the undercarriage to collapse and sustained damage and was written off.
