Background
On October 1, 1941 activated at Schofield Barracks on Oahu in Hawaii. Formed from U.S. Army personnel from the from the 27th Infantry Regiment and 35th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army Hawaiian Division. Their logo is a yellow lightning bolt inside a scarlet shield, the colors are the traditional colors of Hawaiian royalty. The logo is dubbed the electric strawberry. The 25th Infantry Division Museum (Tropical Lightning Museum) is located at Schofield Barracks.

27th Infantry Regiment "Wolfhounds"

The 27th Infantry Regiment nicknamed "Wolfhounds".

Captain Charles W. Davis on January 12, 1943 earned the Medal of Honor at Galloping Horse.

35th Infantry Regiment "Cacti"

The 35th Infantry Regiment nicknamed "Cacti".

The 161st Infantry Regiment nicknamed "First Washington".

SSgt Angelo Viale  served in the Philippines earned the earned the Distinguished Service Cross near Kapintalan.
Technician 4th Grade Laverne Parrish  earned the Medal of Honor posthumously for aiding wounded January 18 and 24, 1945.
