Background
The 6th Bombardment Group (6th BG) was established as the 6th
Observation Group in the U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC). On June 20, 1941 became part of the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). Renamed renamed 6th Comppsite Group (6th CG) then became the 6th Bombardment Group (6th BG). During World War II, part of the 6th Air Force (6th AF). During 1944, redesignated 6th Bombardment Group (Very Heavy) assigned to the 20th Air Force (20th AF).

The 24th Bombardment Squadron (24th BS) was constituted March 28, 1944.
25th Bombardment Squadron (25th BS)
The 25th Bombardment Squadron (25th BS).
40th Bombardment Squadron (40th BS)
The 25th Bombardment Squadron (25th BS).
